Petition to Reinstate the Petition to Include September L. Davis in the Tony Awards "In Memoriam" Segment!

Re: URGENT: The Removal of Our Petition Is Itself an Injustice

Dear MoveOn.org,

We are writing on behalf of five-time Tony nominee September L. Davis to demand the immediate reinstatement of our petition to the Broadway League.

Our petition was removed. Flagged. Disabled.

For "inappropriate content."

We would like to address this directly: What, exactly, was inappropriate?

Was it inappropriate that September L. Davis DIED on May 5th during a performance of Proof: A New Musical About Love, Loss and Math; The Revival in Wolfneck, Alberta?

She COLLIDED with a steel protractor MID PERFORMANCE and FELL into the orchestra pit.

Was it inappropriate that she came back to life?

Was it inappropriate that her devoted Remember Septemberheads, asked those in charge to acknowledge her passing, that definitely did happen, in the in memoriam section of The Tony Awards?

A legend who died for her art! And in the brief window between those two facts, an entire community of theatre lovers was asked to reckon with loss, grief, and the fragility of genius. That is not inappropriate. That is HUMANITY.

The removal of this petition is a continuation of the erasure that September L. Davis has faced throughout her entire career. Five nominations. Zero wins. And now: zero petitions.

We are asking MoveOn.org to restore our petition IMMEDIATELY. Not because we are angry (though we are ANGRY!), but because the democratic right to advocate for those who inspire us to dream bigger, act larger, and LIVE when faced with the decision to live or die is PARAMOUNT to where we are in 2026.

September came back from the dead. The least this platform can do is come back from this decision and give us our petition back so we can help September L. Davis be honored the way she deserves.

Respectfully and with tremendous feeling,

The Remember September Heads
